Modest Metal

I’m Gretchen Arneson. Modest Metal was born out of the desire to make simple jewelry beautifully. I'm a lover of jewelry and making what I can with what I have!

During the day I'm an Optometrist practicing in Durango, CO--though originally from WI (Madison being where I still return home to). When I'm not helping people see I'm busy making jewelry, exploring the mountains of southwest CO, traveling, skiing (any kind!), biking, backpacking/camping and just about anything involving scenery and the outdoors.

I am a notorious project person, there is always something new to create on my list, or some creative way to make what I have better. It really is an addiction! I love the opportunity to combine my analytic side with my artistic side to solve challenges.

I get as much joy in making jewelry as I do in teaching people how to make jewelry! I'd love to have you and your friends join me for a class and a cocktail.
